Mark Tabuso has been training in martial arts for the last 20 years in which 12 of those years were spent teaching American Council of Exercise (ACE) certified group fitness classes. He began training in 1992 under the American Kickboxing banner. He quickly transitioned to Muay Thai as the sport began its international popularity. In 2004, Mark represented the USA in the Muay Thai World Cup. He has competed and was featured on ESPN’s Strikeforce and Fox’s Muay Thai series in the 90’s.
Mark received his bachelors degree in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University and soon afterward began teaching kickboxing. He taught at several different schools before founding Team Tabuso Kickboxing and Fitness in 2001. Through his business he was able to provide instruction for all kickboxing levels and ages. In 2005, Mark became the fitness director of the DeLue Boys and Girls club in Daly City, Ca where he was responsible for the physical development and maintenance of fitness criteria for children, as well as developing new and effective programs for at-risk children.
Mark is now retired from professional Muay Thai competitions. He is currently the head Muay Thai instructor and part owner at Evolve Training Center in South San Francisco, Ca, where he trains beginners as well as professionals.
JOHN J. JANERO
Co-Owner and Head Conditioning Coach
J. Janero has been dedicated to martial arts and physical fitness training for over three decades. J began learning the art of Judo at age 6 and started learning Jiujitsu at age 25. He holds black belts in both Judo and Jiujitsu and has won championships in both arts. J is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist, certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the National Strength Professional Association (NSPA), and has been a personal trainer for over 10 years.
In 1996, J began training with the esteemed Rickson Gracie. He trained with Rickson Gracie for over 10 years. In 2008, J joined up with Saulo and Xande, his long time JiuJistu idols and became a Ribeiro Jiujitsu Affilate. In that time he has produced 4 World Champions in the White and Blue Belt Divisions for the Ribeiro Jiujitsu Competition Team. He now runs a Ribeiro Jiujitsu academy in South San Francisco.
J spent several years as a personal trainer at various Bay Area gyms, and eventually became the Corporate Fitness Director at Genentech for five years. He created and developed effective, efficient, and fun fitness programs for Genetech’s busy executives and employees. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, he opened his own fitness and training center, JJ Performance Training Center. Most recently, he recently opened a new 4,000 square foot facility in South San Francisco, CA, where a variety of martial arts and fitness training classes are held. Classes include Jiujitsu, wrestling, boxing for fitness, Muay Thai and Strength and Conditioning.
J and his wife, Dr. Jane Simbre Janero, a chiropractic doctor, make their home on the peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area.
